Lent is a season of emotion....

And we celebrate this year by sharing music which inspires each worship service. From Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday we are exploring the mysterious ways God speaks to our unique needs. You can listen to the full playlist on SPOTIFY or browse the selection for each week of Lent below.

Ash Wednesday - March 5

Ash Wednesday is a rare individual worship experience - it is meant to cause us to reflect on brokenness in our lives and the world around us as we prepare to come together during Lent to worship The One who is redeeming it all. We lament sin's presence in this world and all our attempts to better ourselves which are fleeting. We find joy through this grief, discovering that even our struggles and pain are temporary. Think of songs that remind you of your humanity - flaws and everything - and the small part you can play in the here and now to help this world heal and sustain.

Even Jesus was tested and tempted and called upon the name of the Lord for deliverance. God is our refuge in times of trouble. Look for songs which remind you of God's power and love, and stir up in you that voice which calls out for the Lord to be your rescue.

In a world often dominated by fear, anxiety, and the responses we're programmed to give to them, Jesus presents us with a radical alternative: a God whose love envelopes us and whose purpose confronts every threat in our lives. Music has a way of uniquely speaking to a God who fully knows our vulnerability and protects us. Think of songs which remind you of the peace you feel in God's sanctuary.

Good Friday - April 18

Why do they call it Good Friday? Jesus was abandoned by those he trusted the most and led to his death. What irony that the prophet Isaiah relays the word of God: "My servant is exalted!" Today is the day we remember Christ's commitment to us, even to death, and even while alone. Share a song which reminds you to honor Christ by not letting others suffer alone.
